Small guy with the hat is a nod to the Cerebus character known as 'the little guy with the hat from the wuffa wuffa issue'.
Fourth panel background characters are Greg's. The last panel has of course Big Bird. Cause why not. It also features the return of a character from a couple issues back, to be revealed on the next page.
