I've always liked that technique. Provide a false opening and let the bad guy walk right into it. Sorry Digory, BUSTED! Like the snowman says,

Happy Birthday!

It's been one year since we started this crazy Indiana Jones flavoured journey. We launched the site a few weeks earlier, and did some teaser posters leading up to it, but it's now been a year of Wednesdays and new DFS each week. I'm pleased to say that it's been an uninterrupted flow of pages, despite illnesses and vacations, one of the things I think we're both quite proud of. If you look at the page numbering, it might seem a bit off to be on page 58 after 52 weeks, but we started with a six page block to get the story rolling. Over that time we've learned a lot about this new webcomics thing. The site itself has undergone little tweaks here and there, (and a more serious tweak is in the plans) we've gone out both physically and virtually into the comics community again for the first time in years. And we were really happy at the feeling that for a lot of people, it was if we had never left. But the comics landscape has changed and there so much else to learn and SO so many people to meet and work to discover. And it's so much easier to do online. With Facebook, Twitter, Reddit and the rest of the social media, not to mention tons of comic and specifically webcomic based sites, there's always something you've never heard of to try. We're pleased to say that this year lots of people have stopped by, (we've exceed the conservative number I'd hoped for) and more do so all the time. And some of you are becoming vocal, conversing with us in the comments, on Facebook or directly via e-mail. Hopefully you've learned we're a couple of fun loving guys who are ready to trade a jest or a movie quote. I'm planning a year-in-review, especially about our convention experiences, but it has to wait till years end because we've actually got an event AT New Years! Come check that out over on Facebook at maybe consider it for your year-end celebrations. Looking ahead to 2011, we'll be taking Mississauga Jay story to it's end, putting together a collected book of it, PLUS the long awaited collection of the second half of the mini-comics run. We're also working on a short story to sell at appearances to introduce new readers to Alex and Walter, (it's a Lost Shrine of the Osars prequel, cause everyone loves prequels right?) that will be one of the added pieces in the Mississauaga Jay collection. Conventions for next year are not set yet, but I think we'll likely be doing more. Our relationship with Comic Book Daily, one of the aforementioned comic book information sites out there, continues and grows as I will be starting a regular column about other webcomics that you might be interested in. As well I continue to be on the weekly 52Q panel answering random questions about comics and they continue to run DFS on their site as well. So grab a slice of cake, put on a hat and celebrate with us. Maybe hit one of the sharing links right below and tell others you enjoy DFS. Order a print book from the Peddling our Wares store. LIKE us on Facebook or follow us on Twitter. Or just leave us a birthday wish in the comments on this here page. We'll be celebrating this day in the style we've grown accustomed to, working on the next pages. But there might be some cake...

  1. Smart girl Celeste…Wish all the girls were like her. Can you please republish the early comic concerning Alex and Walter?

    1. Well she is an archaeologist, ya don’t get that kinda degree without some smarts. The two are funny, neither Jay nor Celeste are dummies, but Jay can sometimes miss the obvious but she doesn’t have Jay’s inventive streak. They frankly make a great pair.

As to the early Dressed For Success stories, at the moment we don’t have any plans to put them online. Two major reasons for this, one being that it’s like 600 pages of comics and at the moment only the later 300 even exist in digital form. The second reason is we’re working on getting the second chunk published in a trade paperback to go along with The Dirty Baker’s Dozen collection so the old material will be available but only as print editions to purchase. It’s a tough call, we understand the nature of webcomics and people wanting everything available for free, but we also would like to claim some sort of financial reward for our work. so for the moment, that’s what we’ve decided. We might someday change our minds. I have been toying with expanding the Story so far to include snippets from the early stories or maybe a longer synopsis, would that work?
